Coach Mayoral returns to Saddleback for a sixth season after a decade hiatus to coach high school football. He will be coaching the Gaucho linebackers in 2018.
Mayoral started his coaching career in 1976 at San Gabriel High School before coaching at Bell Gardens High School and Rio Hondo College. He then had an 11-year stint as the head coach at Schurr High School in Montebello. Mayoral coached for four years at Saddleback from 2005-2008, handling the linebackers while Saddleback enjoyed a 32-12 cumulative record. Mayoral left Saddleback to coach at local El Toro High School where he eventually took over the head coaching position for three years.
Mayoral graduated from Montebello High School where he played football, basketball and baseball. He continued to play football and baseball at Taft College where he was a two-time all-conference selection before finishing his playing career at Cal Poly Pomona. While at CPP, Mayoral earned his bachelor's degree and later went on to receive his master's degree at the University of LaVerne.
